Cardinal Archbishop Bobby Land Speaks concerning Pope Francis Transition
Official Statement: St. Francis Memorial
Southeast Texas Central South Archdiocese official statement from Metropolitan Archbishop Bobby Land Jr. during the reposed soul of the holy father, Pope Francis.
As the faithful around the world, and the people of God everywhere mourn the transition of our beloved holy father, ''the people's Pope Francis'', we offer our prayers for the Church at Rome, Christians, and people everywhere who loved this servant of God, we offer our supplications. We pray for all those in religious vocations, priest, clerics, bishops, archbishops, cardinals, sisters and brothers, and Mothers in Zion, and all of Christendom who loved Pope Francis, the Bishop of Rome and spiritual leader to over a billion of Catholics as well as non - Catholics. The chair of Peter in Rome is vacant. May Jesus and his ''blessed Mother Mary'' console God's children.
Without a doubt, the voice of Pope Francis and his global influence has deeply impacted domestic and global politics, diplomacy, and ethics in both private and public relations. His love for humanity and moral leadership has effected the world's conscience in many positive ways. He has represented Christians around the world, both protestant and catholic. A man of deep faith and compassion, he dedicated his life to helping the poor and calling for peace around the world. He promoted interfaith dialogue in advancing greater understanding and mutual respect. Pope Francis in his earthly life was a champion for human rights and social justice. A voice for the forgotten, an advocate for the marginalized, and a lover of all humanity. May the memory and legacy of Pope Francis foster a renewed sense of peace, kindness, unity, and hope for all mankind. We pray for the reposed soul of our brother. May God give him eternal glory, tranquility, peace, and rest with all the saints.
''O Lord, Creator and Redeemer of all the faithful, grant to the souls of your faithful departed the remission of their sins. Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord, and may you perpetual light shine upon them.

''A Nation Seeks Justice"
As George Floyd is memorialized and laid to rest today, as the world reflects on his life, It is my prayer that the Nation also remember all the silent victims who have experienced crimes against humanity inflicted by their own kind. Even in recent times these voices have gone and continue to go unheard. May God have mercy on our nation and communities. May the faithful pray without ceasing that God heal our land. As we recall the prophetic words of Amos the prophet, but let justice run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream.''
